Associate - Corporate Development & Strategy
Position Overview This position will report to the Vice President of Corporate Development and is responsible for supporting the company’s corporate development and strategic initiatives. This opportunity requires the candidate to be located in the Chicago, IL area and regularly be present at the Company’s headquarters in Skokie, IL with some flexibility to work from home. The ideal candidate will have experience managing multiple projects of competing priority and display the ability to seamlessly work across teams. The role will require the candidate to think creatively and independently, taking a proactive approach to adding value to the organization. The person in this role will need to be capable of taking on various projects, including:
Financial modelling for organic and inorganic growth opportunities, project development, and general corporate financing initiatives
Developing presentation materials and financial models, reviewing key documents and agreements, and analyzing business cases and strategic growth strategies for LanzaTech’s worldwide business in biotech-based carbon capture and transformation
Collaborating with team members across the company
Balancing value optimization with transaction risks, strategic growth initiatives, and overall business objectives
Responsibilities
Act as a liaison between Corporate Development and other LanzaTech teams, including management teams, as well as communicate with external advisors including financial and tax & accounting professionals
Support the office of the CFO on strategic finance initiatives
Improve, support, and help maintain the company-level long term forecast model
Develop advanced project finance pro forma economic models to provide forecasts of biofuels and carbon recycling chemicals projects
Integrate modeling outputs into investment pitch presentations and documents while concisely and effectively providing narrative analysis for project financing and investment consideration
Execute financial valuations, comparable transaction analysis, and gather marketplace intelligence while conducting scenario/sensitivity analysis to assess risk and ranges of outcomes
Monitor markets, competitors, industries, and conduct research on key strategic Company and project initiatives
Maintain the Company’s third-party financial market intelligence
Manage tasks according to budgets and schedules, including coordinating internal and external technical support and consultants
Other duties as identified by the supervisor
Required Skills
A BS or BA from an accredited college program; MBA a plus.
Two (2) to Four (4) years of corporate development, investment banking, private equity, or consulting
Expert-level financial modeling skills using Excel, with exposure to management of complex models, including deep knowledge about formulas, charts, pivot tables; macros and VBA a plus
Advanced skills in PowerPoint and Word for developing professional communications and ability to synthesize information to write effective, concise reports and presentations
Proficient knowledge of accounting, finance, and valuation; project finance and tax equity a plus
Strong critical thinking, organizational, networking, leadership, time management, and accounting skills
Polished public speaking and interpersonal skills, comfortable communicating with all types of stakeholders
Self-motivated and autonomous; outspoken about what is needed to get a job done
Aggressive risk management approach; ability to anticipate problems before they impact project timelines
Potential to travel up to 10-20%, including internationally
