Key duties
  • Work across LanzaTech teams to leverage government funding for LanzaTech initiatives
  • Work with Business Development and Government Teams to prioritize proposals that LanzaTech should pursue, alone and with partners
  • Work effectively with Science and Engineering teams to prioritize technical objectives for government funding
  • Identify and track relevant funding opportunities and the value proposition to LanzaTech
  • Prepare briefings from complex documents and funding opportunities
  • Lead discussions on planning and storyboarding documents
  • Reframe, rewrite, and edit documents
  • Prepare graphics or concepts for graphics
  • Oversee preparation of documents that are visually appealing, technically accurate, and easily readable
  • Learn the fundamentals of LanzaTech technology and represent the key technologies to partners and agencies
  • Represent LanzaTech at meetings including with funding agencies
  • Form and lead teams to prepare proposals, including large multiteam proposals
  • Participate as needed in proposals that support other geographic regions
  • Identify needs for outside proposal support and follow up to ensure those needs are met
  • Review proposals prepared by LanzaTech and partners for readability, quality, accuracy, strength, completeness, visual content, and conformity to requirements
  • Lead and participate in responses for Consultations that shape policy and proposal opportunities
  • Participate in strategy and planning sessions with the Government Team
  • Identify tools and capabilities needed to ensure proper execution of government-funded projects
  • Assist in contracting and collaborating with government partners for proposals awarded
  • Assist in project execution
Required Qualifications
  • PhD with 4 years of experience or MS with 10 years of experience
  • Excellent knowledge of US funding mechanisms and US project lifecycle management
  • Demonstrated experience in proposal development
  • Experience in developing partnerships across academia and industry
  • Proven written and oral communication skills
  • Self-directed, able to work independently and with a team
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas into quickly digestible prose or figures
  • Capacity to work in a multi-cultural environment
Preferred/Valued
  • Knowledgeable in biotechnology, chemistry, and engineering
  • Knowledgeable in business development
  • Creative thinking
  • Concise messaging
  • Storyboarding
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and the use of Styles
  • Use of other Microsoft Office tools (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Project)
  • Experience in chemicals, steel, and/or other Energy Intensive Industries is strongly preferred
Physical Requirements
  • The position will require prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Work Environment
  • The position will be based in Skokie, Illinois.
  • The position will require internet connectivity for a hybrid work environment.
  • The position will require being in the office three days each week.
