About the role

As a member of a global Finance team, this position reports to the Corporate Controller. You will be responsible for various general ledger accounting activities, including parts of month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations and analysis, intercompany transactions, assisting with group and statutory audits, and various ad-hoc projects. This is a great opportunity to expand your accounting skills and contribute to a number of process improvement initiatives within the department. Company’s headquarters are located in the Illinois Science + Technology Park in Skokie with easy access to public transportation - yellow line stop just outside of the building. 

Key Duties

  • Actively participate in month-end closing activities
  • Prepare general ledger journal entries and assigned GL account reconciliations
  • Maintain schedules for accrued and prepaid expenses
  • Reconcile intercompany accounts for U.S. and foreign subsidiaries
  • Prepare statutory reports for various government grants
  • Assist with external audit requests
  • Willingness to accept ad hoc projects and other tasks as assigned
  • Assist with process improvements and workflow efficiencies
  • Provide excellent customer service to our internal “customers” – (i.e. co-workers in other departments)
  • Ensure adherence and compliance with company policies and procedures


Qualifications and Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field;
  • 3-5 years of related accounting experience such as month-end closing, journal entries and account reconciliations, general ledger account analysis, intercompany transactions and accounting, fixed assets accounting
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills are a must;
  • Solid understanding of GAAP accounting. IFRS experience preferred but not required;
  • Attention to detail
  • A passion for LanzaTech and its mission

Desired/Ideal/A plus:

  • CPA credentials strongly preferred;
  • ERP systems experience, NetSuite preferred;
  • Resourceful and well organized. High energy level, comfortable performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with day to day activities;
  • Approachable, professional and able to work in a highly confidential environment. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquires;
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and offers solutions to complex issues required. Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Develops alternative solutions;
  • Team player with a proactive approach to problem solving;
  • Understanding  of the need for flexibility in a rapidly changing business/startup environment
  • Demonstrable self-organization skills and time management
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with all internal and external stakeholders
