Synthetic Biology Summer Intern

Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity for an intern to join our team this summer for a three month period.  The Intern will be working within the Synthetic Biology team, responsible for developing novel genetic parts. Activities will include high-throughput DNA assembly and screening, as well as supporting development of fluorescence-based assay techniques. 

Specific Job Function:

  • Molecular cloning and screening of DNA constructs
  • Engineering and cultivation of anaerobic bacterial strains
  • Operating robotic liquid handling system
  • Performing biochemical and fluorescence assays

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in molecular biology, microbiology, chemical engineering, biochemistry, or related discipline
  • Current enrollment in a science or engineering graduate program
  • Hands-on experience in an academic or industrial laboratory setting
  • Strong analytic and research skills
  • Team player that thrives in a cutting edge, fast paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills
  • Strong experience in MS Office
