To manage the development and commercialization of new bacterial strains for LanzaTech’s gas fermentation process to produce biofuels and chemicals, an essential function within the organization. The Strain development function is an essential component of LanzaTech because it seeks to develop microbial catalysts that have enhanced performance or a novel product profile. Because LanzaTech creates fuels and chemicals from waste with our proprietary gas fermentation process, developing and improving our microbial catalyst portfolio is essential to ensure that we are able to maximize the value we create using our gas fermentation technology. In overseeing the strain development function the successful candidate will lead efforts to test, isolate and optimize the growth characteristics of proprietary strains of anaerobic bacterium that produce chemicals and fuels from carbon-containing gases (carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide/hydrogen mixtures), therefore converting waste products efficiently into recycled valuable chemicals.
